Driving up

Pike's Peak

Here we are at the Country Lodge Motel in Colorado Springs, getting ready for an adventure.
To drive up Pike's Peak.  Here is the town below Pike's Peak.
About halfway between the 4th and 5th mile marker we see a sign for a BIGFOOT crossing!!
Close to 1/4 of the way to the top is a gift shop, and this well is outside it.
Here's the lake by the gift shop.
We made it to the top of Pike's Peak!  And those clouds are getting pretty dark... it's going to rain on us.
Yep!  It's started to rain on us!
Katherine Lee Bates penned the poem, "America the Beautiful" on top of Pike's Peak.  Here's a plaque to commerate that.
Oh boy!  I get to drive down the mountain in the hard steady rain.
I had to get out and get a picture of this very close to the top.  Very pretty.
Whew!  What fun!  What terror!  LOL!  But I'll never forget that drive.  It only took me 2 1/2 hours to make the trip up and back.
